A partnership agreement is the agreement by which a partnership is formed. A partnership agreement is generally put into a written form to ensure permanency and documentation of the partnership agreement’s existence.
Partnership agreements can be made between many different parties and a single partner can make different partnership agreements with different parties, assuming it is all in conformance with the rules for partnerships in the state in which the partnership agreements are being formed. Partnership agreements can generally not be modified once they are formed, which means that they either must be voided and a new partnership agreement must be formed, or they must be left alone.

Such a partnership agreement template will usually include such important clauses as the name of the partnership and the purpose of the partnership, the duration over which the partnership will exist, the nature of capital within the partnership, the dispensation of profit and of loss within the partnership, the methods by which the partnership may be dissolved, and how the partnership would deal with the death of one of the partners.

Partnership agreements will also often include such clauses as clauses for resolving disputes between partners, often through arbitration, and clauses concerning the control of the partnership, and exactly how much power each partner has over the actions of the partnership.
